Knights in Shining Armor

Chivalry and duty are bound together by the masterpieces of European arms and armors, dating from the Medieval and Renaissance ages to the romanticized "Medieval" of the 1800's. Horsemanship (and especially the joust) remained closely linked with knighthood from its origins in the 12th century up until its finest hour as a fashion amoung the high nobility in the 15th century. The exhibit explores the themes of love and war, jousts and tournaments, and the historical context in which the objects were made and used.
