An Overview of the Petroleum Industry

 

Wiess Energy Instituteand The College of Technology University of Houston present:

A brief overview of the energy industry from exploration to marketing.

 

This program provides a lecture on the petroleum value chain which includes exploration, appraisal, development, surface production facilities, refining and marketing.  The focus will be on providing the attendee with a discussion of the fundamentals of the industry reinforced with a tour of the world class Wiess Energy Hall.   

 

This course is ideal for new hires or those within the petroleum industry who want to understand how their job fits into the entire petroleum value chain as well as for those who want to understand more of the principles and terminology used within the industry.

 

Includes breakfast and lunch and a guided tour of the Weiss Energy Hall

BTS - Dinosaurs and the Hall of Paleontology

While the Museum is closed, the dinosaurs come to life through the stories of David Temple, associate curator of paleontology. Tour the hall of paleontology and help excavate fossils in the fossil prep lab. This interactive and hands-on tour is an extraordinary look at the work done behind-the-scenes of the Museum. Fossil Prep Class

 

A fossilized sub-tropical lake system discovered in Wyoming in 1856 has yielded thousands of Eocene-era fossilized fish.  The Green River Formation is famous for its well-preserved fossil fish and other aquatic animals and flora.  Excavate your own Green River fossil fish from its matrix using the tools of the paleontology trade lead by David Temple, HMNS assistant curator of Paleontology. Your fish is yours to keep for your fossil collection.
